Rockville Utah Real Estate

Rockville real estate located is just west of Springdale and the entrance to Zion Canyon in Zion National Park on SR-9. It was originally settled in the 1860s by early Mormon settlers who were trying to set up cotton growing areas here. Now, it is a bedroom community that welcomes millions of annual visitors who come to see Zion National Park.

Because of its proximity to the area's most famous national park, Rockville attracts buyers who love the outdoors. Many of the properties in this small town are older Bungalows, but the newer construction homes (or newly-renovated homes) tend to be quite  modern, and come with a higher price point.

The town itself is spread out over a wide area, but most of the land is undeveloped. As a result, there are opportunities for buyers to purchase vacant land to build their dream home, however this, like other listings, is rare.

Rockville Highlights & Amenities

Other than the beautiful natural park located to the north, Rockville is located right on the Virgin River, with many other opportunities for hiking, camping, and more in the surrounding areas.

While Rockville is a small town, there are opportunities for shopping and dining nearby. The town of Springdale, found just up Highway 9, is where you'll find the area's local businesses and quaint restaurants. Virgin, La Verkin, and the large city of Hurricane are located just west of Rockville.

The town's location in-between the mountainous regions of Utah have made it the starting point for numerous hiking trails. Adventurous residents or visitors can hike the Wire Mesa Trail, Eagle Crag Trail, and more.

Rockville History

The St. George area is full of pioneer history. Not only are there many pioneer structures in town that have stood for over a century, the surrounding area is home to several ghost towns. The most famous ghost town in the area (and all of Utah for that matter) is Grafton. The town, home to a restored schoolhouse/church and former residence, was the backdrop for several movies, from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” to “The Red Fury.” In addition to the restored structures, Grafton also includes ruins of other buildings, a cemetery and old fields/orchards. Grafton is only four miles west of Rockville along a dirt road.
