The cost of living in St. George Utah is 91.8% of the national average according to a new report on the first quarter of 2015. The report published by Site Select Plus shows an improvement over 93.8% that was reported at the end of 2014. St. George, Utah is a relatively inexpensive place to live.

Housing was especially low, at 86.6% of the national average. The Spectrum noted that housing costs were over 90% last year. This may be due to more houses being built and for sale.

“We know that the housing market here is robust,” said Scott Hirschi, Site Select Plus Director, in his interview with The Spectrum.  “Contractors are building and people are buying homes, but apparently at a pretty balanced rate.”

This means that home buyers can buy a home for less than other places in the country, including Salt Lake City, which reported 97.6% cost of living. You could also buy a larger home in St. George than you may be able to purchase other places.

Low cost of living is better for local businesses too. Reports like these help to attract businesses to St. George, since they won’t have to pay as much on overhead costs such as utilities and inventory. Health care also costs less in St. George at 92.3%. This helps to encourage a healthy community and means there’s better access to health care.

While St. George is a beautiful, family-friendly community, it is also relatively inexpensive to move and to live here. That is why St. George residents are building and selling homes more and more as the economy improves.

This cost of living report is just one more reason that St. George is a great place to live.
